President Donald Trump spent Monday, Oct. 19, on a trip to Kansas for Sen. Roger Marshall, talking to reporters before he left and posting dozens of times on Truth Social. This entry in the series Every 24 Hours What the President Says covers 7:06 a.m. PT Monday to 7:06 a.m. PT Tuesday, lists highlights first, sorts his statements by topic and ends with a closer look at the Kansas rally, the day’s main event.

Highlights. On Ukraine’s president, at the gaggle: “I think it’s time for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine.” Told that Zelenskyy says he supports Putin by waiving sanctions, he answered: “I’m supporting stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine,” and added: “I think he doesn’t want to stop it” (transcript). On Europe he warned the U.S. might “leave” (). And he thanked Elon Musk “for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through TRUMP ACCOUNTS!” ().

Russia, China and talks. Asked about a possible meeting with Presidents Putin and Xi, he said: “We would have it to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearization,” adding that he thought “it would be held in China.” Asked who ordered an interruption of Starlink service in Ukraine, he said: “I don’t know who it was, but I’d like to find out” (transcript).

Europe and France. His long Truth Social post called France “A once-great nation that is being conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and Communists” and added: “When we asked for help in Iran (Help which we didn’t need, but was done more in the form of a test), they weren’t there to help, something which I can never forget” (). Newsweek reports no formal step followed. He also proposed that “New Mexico should immediately change its name to New America” ().

Courts and nominations. He nominated Eric Hamilton to the federal district court in Nebraska () and Joseph Falvey to the Northern District of Indiana ().

Deep dive: the Kansas rally. In Park City, Kan., he repeated the Europe warning: “if they don’t soon find their way, and they have to find their way, we will have no choice but to leave, to leave” (transcript). On money, he said: “the Trump dividend, which is the 5,000, just to show you how it does work, it’s approximately $1 trillion. But we have a record setting $22.2 trillion that’s being invested in the United States right now in just 15 months.” He also announced the $8 billion farm diesel program, crediting Marshall: “Roger got it to happen” (transcript).

The Kansas Reflector fact-checked the rally: it says payments to 240 million to 250 million people would cost “closer to $1.2 trillion,” and that PBS put foreign investment at “$11.2 trillion” rather than more than $22 trillion. During the rally hours he posted a run of attacks on Democrats, including Senate nominee Adam Hamilton, whom he called “a Radical Left Phony” (), and a Truth Social version of the diesel announcement ().
