This edition covers 7:04 a.m. PST Saturday, Nov. 7, to 7:04 a.m. PST Sunday, Nov. 8, and ranks items by policy weight, then by coverage. With no on-camera remarks in the window (pool; pool), it quotes his Truth Social posts word for word, describes every image and video he shared, and pairs claims with other sources. Media he shared follows at the end.
Highlights. He said he ordered the Justice Department to look into Democrats he says threaten officials and donors (View post on Truth Social ↗). He offered the vacant press-secretary job to UFC chief Dana White (View post on Truth Social ↗). And he declared Sen. Dan Sullivan the winner of an Alaska race that officials had not called (View post on Truth Social ↗; New York Post).
Ranked by policy weight
1. Deep dive: a Justice Department order aimed at Democrats. In the 9:45 a.m. PT post he wrote that Democrats threaten “a lot of people, including the Attorney General of the United States, and others, with Impeachment,” that “there have been no impeachable acts committed,” and that “they’re threatening our Donors… with imprisonment” (View post on Truth Social ↗). He named one lawmaker: “The Senator from Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, is saying that she is going to go after all young people that believe in Republican Values” (View post on Truth Social ↗). An hour later, at 10:45 a.m. PT, he added, “Please report them to the Department of Justice, IMMEDIATELY! If you would like, send them directly to me, your President,” and “These SLEAZEBAGS should go to jail for what they are doing” (View post on Truth Social ↗). The travel pool flagged the first post as the motorcade left his golf club (pool).
What the record shows. CNBC and Newsweek trace the Slotkin line to an Oct. 13 University of Chicago event where she said she wanted young people weighing administration jobs to think, “Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want,” and called it a “deterrence message” (CNBC; Newsweek). Fox News reports that Reps. Hank Johnson of Georgia and Deborah Ross of North Carolina have said they would back impeaching Attorney General Todd Blanche, and that Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, “will likely reintroduce impeachment articles” against War Secretary Pete Hegseth (Fox News). Newsweek reports it remained unclear whether the department had opened any inquiry (Newsweek).
Reactions. Slotkin answered in a statement Newsweek published: “If you didn’t break the law, then it’s all good,” and “Mr. President, your threats of legal action and worse didn’t work when you tried to criminally indict me in front of a grand jury last February” (Newsweek). Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, earlier in the week said of the department, “The Department of Justice has clearly become a Department of Injustice,” per Newsweek (Newsweek). In clips the White House’s @RapidResponse47 account posted Sunday morning, Blanche said of Democrats, “They’ve threatened donors, they’ve threatened individuals who are in college and might want to work for conservative institutions,” adding, “It didn’t work last time; it’s not going to work this time” (View post on X ↗; View post on X ↗). Related posts: at 1:54 p.m. PT he shared a video of Hegseth saying “they attack us because we are effective,” then reposted it at 7:53 p.m. PT with a screenshot of an X post by @JakeTbird headed “Patriots are in control” (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗).
2. Dana White and the press podium. His post called White “a violent Fighter and Warrior,” asked him to bring as “assistants” six UFC fighters, “even though some are not from our Country,” and ended, “Dana, please take the job!” (View post on Truth Social ↗). The attached collage shows a man at a press-room podium with the presidential seal above photos of the fighters; the Guardian describes the podium image as “what appeared to be an AI-generated image of White” and notes the post spelled Kayla Harrison’s name as “Harris” (Guardian). CBS News reports the job has sat vacant since Oct. 16, when Katie Zacharia lost the job after five days (CBS News). White House communications director Steven Cheung reposted the offer with “Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite!” per CNN; a source told CNN that White declined, and one aide said the president joked (CNN via KVIA; Anadolu). White, asked in London, said, “I’m flying to Washington, D.C., right now,” and “we have a meeting on Monday,” and posted an Instagram story captioned “On to the next chapter,” per CBS News (CBS News).
3. Alaska and the midterm count. His 11:55 a.m. PT post said that adding votes for Daniel Sullivan Jr. (“3,600, 1.68%”) and Gerald Heikes (“4,846, 2.27%”) to Sen. Dan Sullivan puts the senator “up by thousands of Votes,” called Heikes “fraudulently put into the Race,” and said, “I don’t know what takes so long to announce his win” (View post on Truth Social ↗). The New York Post reports Alaska uses ranked-choice voting, allows 10 days for ballots to arrive (15 for overseas), showed 74% of precincts reporting when he posted, and cites a New York Times analysis that Sullivan seems unlikely to gain much on retabulation (New York Post). The desk could not reach the Alaska Division of Elections results page. Around 12:07 p.m. PT he shared, without comment, an X screenshot by @TruthAnswersAll arguing that a uniform 15% shift from his 2024 vote share “demands answers at the ballot level,” and a screenshot of an @FSociety_1942 post with a vote-count chart asking, “Does anyone believe this at all?” (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗). Neither screenshot cites evidence of miscounting; the 15% Band charts credit “unofficial” network results.
4. Markets. Sunday’s 5:49 a.m. PT post said, “America took a giant step back in History with the results of the last Election,” and that the market “took a one day, 3 Trillion Dollar loss” (View post on Truth Social ↗). UNILAD notes he made the same $3 trillion claim to reporters Friday (UNILAD). The desk did not verify the figure or the cause he gives.
5. Iran. At 10:51 a.m. PT he posted, without comment, a meme pairing two photos: one with the caption “Saddam is a threat. I need 170K troops and 8 years. 4,400 Americans will die,” and one of himself captioned “Ayatollah Khamenei is a threat. I need 12 hours and 900 missiles” (View post on Truth Social ↗). The meme does not name the man in the first photo, and the desk did not verify its figures.
6. Staff, family and supporters. At 1:47 p.m. PT he shared a White House TikTok video showing Stephen Miller, his incoming chief of staff, with audio listing “Record tax relief, zero illegal immigration” and other claims, then reposted it with a screenshot of a @KatTheHammer1 post reading “IT’S MILLER TIME” (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗). At 11:50 a.m. PT he shared the trailer for “Melania, the series,” which says it streams “On November 20, … only on Prime Video,” plus a promo image (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗). At 1:46 p.m. PT he posted video of the first lady’s Louisiana State University event, where she and LSU announced a $7.2 million Fostering the Future endowment, per a White House release (View post on Truth Social ↗; White House release). He also shared a short clip shot near a motorcade, with screenshots from @MAGAVoice and @Broda_web4 describing a Thunderbirds flyover (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗), and at 9:03 a.m. PT two cable-news clips, one under a Fox News chyron: in the first a guest says, “Oil traffic is basically back to where it was,” and in the second a former Trump White House deputy communications director criticizes Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed after his win this week (View post on Truth Social ↗; View post on Truth Social ↗; Guardian).
